The typing cursor does not go where my mouse clicks!

When I'm navigating a loop document, I'll scroll down the page and click my mouse on a line of text i want to edit. I'll even double click the line to be sure. But when i start typing, for some reason the active cursor remains at its original spot elsewhere in the document. Then, I have to manually bring the cursor down to the line i want to edit with the keyboard arrow keys!! This is an absolute flow killer.

This happens constantly and can be reproduced at will in any loop doc.

    Hello Lee McEwen,

Thank you for writing to us here in the Microsoft community.

I understand how frustrating it can be when the cursor misbehaves while typing on your Mac. I just want to inform you that loop is still in its infancy that functionalities are missing or buggy.

I just want to ask a few questions as to narrow down the problem. It is important to answer this to provide more detailed troubleshooting steps.

    1. How frequent your problem in a day?
    2. Is there any changes with the device?

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help resolve your solution:

    1. Try to uninstall/reinstall the application.
    2. Turn Off Tap to Click:
    • Go to the Apple menu, then select System Preferences.
    • Click on Trackpad.
    • Uncheck the box for Tap to Click.
    • If the cursor stops jumping around, it’s likely that your fingers or wrist were accidentally touching the trackpad while typing
    1. Keep Your Trackpad Clean and Dry:
    • Dirt, water, and natural oils from your fingers can affect the touch sensitivity of your trackpad.
    • Use a lint-free cloth (slightly dampened if necessary) to keep the trackpad surface clean.
    • Alternatively, place a piece of paper over the trackpad and try using it through that. If the cursor behaves better, consider using a trackpad cover.

Let me know if the issue persists, and we can have other options.

I hope you find this information helpful.

    Regards,

    1. my problem happens all day every day. its so predictable that it seems like its built to be this way. 1000x a day.
    2. I just tried the website on my Chrome browser and it seems to be working better there. So perhaps this is an issue with Safari. i use MacOS Safari Version 17.2.1 (19617.1.17.11.12)

I can't do that on my work computer.

It seems to me that the bug doesnt exist in Chrome. But I can reproduce the cursor issue in Safari and Firefox. There ya have it.
