How to: Create a Collection (Master Data Services)
In Master Data Services, create a collection when you want to re-use and re-group existing explicit hierarchy and collection members. Collections do not need to include all members from the entity.
Prerequisites
To perform this procedure:
- You must have permission to access the Explorer functional area. 
- You must have a minimum of Update permission to the collection model object that you are creating a collection for. 
- The entity must be enabled for explicit hierarchies and collections. For more information, see How to: Enable an Entity for Explicit Hierarchies and Collections (Master Data Services). 
To create a collection
- On the Master Data Manager home page, from the Model list, select a model. 
- From the Version list, select a version. 
- Click Explorer. 
- From the menu bar, point to Collections and click entity_name. 
- Click Add collection. 
- On the Member Information page, in the Name box, type a name for the collection. 
- In the Code box, type a code for the collection. 
- Click Save and go back.
