How to: Move Members within a Hierarchy (Master Data Services)
In Master Data Manager, move members within a hierarchy to change their location or parent assignment.
Prerequisites
To perform this procedure:
- You must have permission to access the Explorer functional area. 
- You must have a minimum of Update permission to the hierarchy. 
- A hierarchy must exist. For more information, see How to: Create a Derived Hierarchy (Master Data Services) or How to: Create an Explicit Hierarchy (Master Data Services). 
To move members within a hierarchy
- On the Master Data Manager home page, from the Model list, select a model. 
- From the Version list, select a version. 
- Click Explorer. 
- From the menu bar, point to Hierarchies and click hierarchy_name. 
- In the Hierarchy pane, where the hierarchy is displayed in a tree structure, click the check box for each member you want to move. 
- In the Clipboard pane, click Copy to clipboard. 
- In the Hierarchy pane, click the name of member you want to move the members to. The text of the member becomes bold and grey. - Note - Selecting the check box has no affect. You must click the member name or code. 
- In the Clipboard pane, click Paste as child or Paste as sibling. 
- In the confirmation dialog box, click OK. - Note - In derived hierarchies, you can move members to parents at the same level only. Also, you cannot change the sort order of members.
