Hi!
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
ASUS laptops like your TUF A15 (FA506NF) use UAD drivers with Realtek Audio Console, and installing the legacy “Realtek HD Audio Manager” version breaks headset detection (especially combo jack mic).
You need a fresh install of drivers. (follow these steps in order)
Step 1: Cleanly remove all Realtek and audio remnants
- Disconnect from the Internet (to prevent Windows from auto-installing drivers).
- Open Device Manager → Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click every audio entry (Realtek, AMD Audio, NVIDIA Audio) → Uninstall device → tick “Delete the driver software for this device” → Ok
- Do the same for Audio inputs and outputs.
- Run DDU again, this time choosing Audio → Realtek, NVIDIA, AMD.
- Reboot.
Step 2: Reinstall the correct ASUS-approved Realtek UAD driver
Important: Do not install “Realtek HD Audio” (HDA).
Instead, download from ASUS Support (specific for FA506NF only)https://www.asus.com/supportonly/fa506nf/helpdesk_download/
Under Audio, download:
Realtek Audio Driver (UAD) (e.g. version 6.0.9609.1 or newer)
If available, also install Realtek Audio Console from Microsoft Store after driver install.
Then:
- Reboot after installation.
- Reconnect Internet.
- Launch Realtek Audio Console → ensure “Device advanced settings” shows both Headphone and Headset Mic.
Step 3: Check combo-jack mode
- Plug in your Arctis Nova 1 (3.5 mm combo).
- You should get a popup asking “What device did you plug in?” → choose Headset (Headphone + Mic).
- If popup doesn’t appear → open Realtek Audio Console → Device Advanced Settings → Enable jack detection when device is plugged in.
- If your mic still isn’t detected → run:
- Control Panel → Sound → Recording tab → Show Disabled Devices, right-click → enable Headset Mic if present.
Step 4: Re-enable correct recording input
- Go to Settings → System → Sound → Input → Choose a device for speaking or recording → set to Headset Mic (Realtek Audio).
- If only “Microphone” appears (and not “Array”):
- That’s okay — “Array Microphone” was the label for the laptop’s built-in mic under older drivers; “Microphone” is now the unified name under UAD.
Once done with everything test again.
