How do I get Word and Excel to work on iPad with new iOS

Since the new iOS update, Word and Excel are frozen on the iPad. I can only see 2 pages of an 80 page document and can not edit text on either app.

I have looked at all of the online support and have 1) logged out and into the account and 2) reinstalled the apps. These did not work.

All of the online messages I am seeing say that Microsoft is working on this issue. But I have not seen improvement. I tried to call any customer support number I could find, but each of them ended the call in the first 10 seconds.

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

    Fixes are being released gradually, so expect resolution with the next Office build. Unfortunately, there is just one workaround by using the combined Microsoft Office.

    • Install the “Microsoft Office” (all-in-one) app from the App Store.
    • Sign in with your Microsoft 365 account.
    • Open your Word or Excel files there, this version has slightly different rendering and is often unaffected.

    OR

    • Use Office.com in Safari or Edge, works with full editing features.
    • Enable Desktop mode in Safari → a stable fallback while mobile apps are patched.

    A hot fix solution that works for me with the least intrusive steps:

    Disable my wifi when it freezes and then enable it again. After doing this the app works fine until I restart it (Excel application?) again. I have also tried this using airplane mode toggle, least hassles solution so far, recommend to try this first!

    Hope this helps with all affected users and useful hint for MS to address the underlying issue.
