File Explorer not previewing pdf files since 25H2 update

Since installing the 25H2 update to Windows 11, the preview for pdf files is not working.

I just get the following message "The file you are attempting to preview could harm your computer. If you trust the file and the source you received it from, open it to view its contents"

I have tried everything to restore the preview without success.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    The following fixed network share files however the issue with being able to preview items in OneDrive / Gooogle Drive remains

    Add the following reg keys:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    ; Allow previews for files marked Internet Zone (ZoneId=3)

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3]

    "180F"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\3]

    "180F"=dword:00000000

    ; Also allow under "Internet (Lockdown)" zone, in case Explorer uses lockdown policies

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Lockdown_Zones\3]

    "180F"=dword:00000000

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Lockdown_Zones\3]

    "180F"=dword:00000000

    Same issue here. I'm trying to preview PDF files sitting on my desk and receive the error.

    should I just roll back the update?

    Hola, a todos.

    La mejor solución, provisional, es desinstalar la Actualización de seguridad de1 14 de octubre en Configuración -> Windows Update.

    Para Windows 11 22H2 y 23H2, la actualización KB5066793

    Para Windows 11 24H2 y 25H2, la actualización KB5066835

    Las vistas previas volverán a aparecer.

    Es mejor esperar a que Microsoft lo solucione mediante un nuevo parche.

    Saludos,

    Enric

    Dave Rowe is a hero!!! The Powershell command and examples he linked here: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/batch-unblock-files-downloaded-from-the-internet did the trick! I can preview all files in my downloads folder now! considers switching careers to be a computer coder JK XD
