How do I delete/remove network connections?

My computer some how has 9 network connections. At times it will change connection by its self. Example: Change from connection 7 to connection 3 and so on. It will also change to a public connection, then back to a home connection. This is causing trouble when I am playing PS3 online games. When it dose this I get kicked from the game. I need to delete or remove all these network connection and only have one home network connection.

How is this done, and how can I prevent windows from making another network connection without asking me first?

    Hello Bobby,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft Community Forum.

When you connect to a wireless network, the settings and profile of that specific network is saved on your computer so that you won’t have to re-enter your network credentials, such as the wireless security key to connect the next time.  Once your computer is in range with the wireless network profile that is saved on your computer, it will automatically attempt to connect to that wireless network you have previously connected to.

If you have connected to various wireless networks before, your computer may have problems connecting wirelessly, especially when the wireless network name (SSID) is the same with the previous ones you have connected to. Removing wireless network profiles on your computer may improve your wireless connectivity to your current wireless network.

Note: When you remove wireless profile you may have to put the security key again for home wireless network.

I would suggest you to try the following steps:

    Method 1

How to remove the existing wireless network profile in Windows 7

    Step 1

Click Start->Control Panel, Select Network and Internet, and then click Network and Sharing Center

    Step 2

In the task list, please choose Manage wireless networks.

    Step 3

In the Network table, please select the existing profiles and click Remove.

    Step 4

You may see a warning dialog box, just click OK.

    Step 5

Then please go back to Network and Sharing Center and choose Change adapter settings -> right click Wireless Network Connection -> click Connect/Disconnect.

    Step 6

Click the refresh button to view available wireless networks. Highlight the network which you want to connect, double click it or click Connect button.

    Method 2

I would appreciate if you could let us know when you say "approve it as a home network", did you save the network. This issue may occur if you don't save the network and once you save the network it should not show you a different network each time you connect.  Also, let us know if you see multiple networks in change adapter’s settings or only one network in network connections.

I would suggest you refer the steps from the following article and check if it helps:

    Create or modify network profiles

Hope this information is helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to help.

    Thank you.

    Hello Bobby,

Thank you for keeping us updated on the issue.

Is your computer connected to a domain environment?

Network Address Translation (NAT) is the process where a network device, usually a firewall, assigns a public address to a computer (or group of computers) inside a private network. The main use of NAT is to limit the number of public IP addresses an organization or company must use, for both economy and security purposes.

It allows a single device to act as an intermediary between the Internet and a local network. This effectively means that a single IP address can be used for an entire group of computers.NAT was developed by Cisco. It is used by an appliance, such as a computer or firewall, which sits between an internal network and the outside world of networks. The NAT works in many different ways. There is the Static NAT, which directs an unregistered IP address to a registered IP address. This is very useful when a computer needs to access another computer from outside the network.

    What Is NAT?
