WSUS Classification GUIDs

The Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) Classification GUIDs are used in conjunction with searching for and the local publishing of updates:

Searching
The IUpdateSearcher::Search function enables you to search for a specific category of updates where the CategoryID is set to the desired Classification GUID. (Note that a classification is basically a specialized category.) For example, to search for definition updates that need to be installed, use the criteria string "(IsInstalled = 0 and IsHidden = 0 and CategoryIDs contains 'E0789628-CE08-4437-BE74-2495B842F43B')".

Local Publishing
Classification GUIDs are used if you want your locally-published update to have an associated classification.
