Use the Dimensions page of Role Designer to grant or revoke access to dimensions within the selected database for users in the selected role.
Note
All options on this page are not available if Full control (Administrator) is selected on the General page of Role Designer.
Options
Select Dimension Set
Selects the set of dimensions to be displayed on the Dimensions page.Dimensions
Select the dimension listed in the grid to modify its permissions. The grid contains the columns listed in the following table.Column
Description
Dimension Name
Displays the name of the dimension.
Access
Select the access level that the users in this role will have when accessing the associated dimension.
Value
Description
Read
Users are able to read information from the dimension.
Read/Write
Users are able to read and write information from the dimension.
Read Definition
Grants users who are in this role permission to read the metadata associated with the dimension.
Note
This option is selected but not available if the Read definition option is selected on the General page of Role Designer.
Process
Grants users who are in this role permission to process the selected cube.
