Business value

Working with project accounting is easier when the terminology for its features is clear. We updated the terminology in the product and documentation. We renamed features that use the term "jobs" to use the term "projects" instead. This change improves the user experience, makes the documentation clearer, and keeps terminology consistent across the application.

Feature details

For a long time, the user interface and documentation referred to project accounting features as "jobs." This terminology caused confusion because it didn't match the terms people who work with project accounting expected. We fixed this problem by replacing the term "job" with "project" in the user interface and documentation. This change makes the nature and purpose of the project accounting features clearer for different types of businesses.

For example, the user interface and documentation now use project tasks, project journals, and project planning lines instead of job tasks, job journals, and job planning lines. We only updated the captions in the user interface and the terms in the documentation. We didn't change the names of the underlying table and field objects. So, the renaming doesn't break existing integrations and customizations.

Note

If you expose standard UI pages as web service endpoints, your integrations might be affected. We recommend that you use API pages or queries instead. For more information, see Web services performance.
