Hi, I was just wondering if anyone knows please what is the maximum storage capacity for Windows Server Backup on Windows Server 2022? Iirc, for Server 2019, it was 16TB, but I wasn't sure if that 16TB limit has stayed the same in Server 2022 or if it may have potentially increased? Thanks!

    Hi @Phoenix2017

The maximum memory supported by Windows Server 2022 is 48TB. The increases in memory capacity are often driven by large memory-intensive workloads such as SQL or SAP.

You can get all other info like improved security improvements from here https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/storage-at-microsoft/windows-server-2022-is-full-of-new-file-services/ba-p/2637323

Windows Server 2012 and latter versions of Windows Server, Microsoft has introduced VHDX files that support storing Windows backup larger than 2 TB.

    Hope this resolves your Query!!

Thanks for your valuable and helpful response @Limitless Technology . I did some additional online research and was able to confirm that the maximum supported VHDX file size for Windows Server Backup since at least Windows Server 2012 appears to be 64TB. The question is about Windows Server Backup application. 16TB NTFS Limit For Windows Server 2012 . NTFS doesn't support drives larger than 16TB at the default cluster size of 4KB. To have drives larger than that you have to use larger cluster sizes as discussed here. Also, ReFS isn't supported, at least as of Server 2019 I believe.

I have not tried it yet, some say increasing the cluster size works with WSB, some say it still errors.
