The built-in Approvals app in Teams only sends notifications inside Teams - it doesn't send email alerts.
To get the same notification by email, you need to use Power Automate:
- Create a flow that triggers when an approval is created or an item needs approval.
- Add the "Start and wait for an approval" action (this will send a Teams notification).
- Ad a "Send an email (V3)" step to send a matching email to the approver or the person that requested.
- Customize the subject and message to include details or links to the approval.
This method will let you send both Teams and email notification for the same approval event.
