Why doesn't my CD/DVD player (Plextor) work with Windows 11? It is recognized in the BIOS and in Device Manager it says it is working properly but is not shown in Windows File Viewer!
I was wanting to install some import software soon but I cannot!

The problem is usually driver or registry related, rather than a hardware failure.
Most often, the issue is fixed by removing UpperFilters/LowerFilters in the registry or assigning a drive letter. After that, Windows File Explorer should recognize the drive even if the device was previously “working properly” in Device Manager.

If your Plextor drive shows in BIOS and Device Manager but not in File Explorer, can you check if it appears in Disk Management?
If it’s missing a drive letter, right-click the drive and choose “Change Drive Letter and Paths” to add one. If it still doesn’t show, I also recommend checking for outdated chipset or SATA controller drivers.
