When will windows 11 be updated to allow taskbar locations on the side of the screen?

    Hi Martin, David (G&B),

Regarding your question, there is still no official timeline for restoring full side‑docking support. As of late 2025, Microsoft has not re‑enabled native support for moving the Windows 11 taskbar to the left or right side of the screen. The taskbar remains locked to the bottom (and top, in limited Insider builds). However, in the meantime there is a way to achieve a vertical taskbar, that is through third‑party tools such as Start11 or ExplorerPatcher.

If you find this information useful to some extent, please accept the answer so that it would help contribute to the whole community. Thank you :)

    Vivian
