Why isn't my iPhone syncing with my hotmail account?

My phone shows about 200 messages while my laptop shows around 600 on Hotmail. So most messages aren't getting to my phone. I have to rely on my laptop for correct number of messages. Why isn't my phone showing all the messages?

Thanks for reaching out. I had an Iphone 13 and this what I've done to fix it. (Based from here: https://free.blessedness.top/en-us/answers/questions/4666314/hotmail-account-stopped-working-iphone-mac?forum=outlook_com-all&referrer=answers)
- I deleted the Hotmail account (from Settings, Mail, Accounts, Hotmail).
- I turned off the phone and turned it back on. (No idea if that was needed.)
- I went back to the same spot and clicked "Add Account" and THIS TIME, I clicked on Outlook.com instead of "Other" (and typing in Hotmail).
