I cannot open any word document

I cannot open any word documents or create new ones. It says I need to register my product. I have had it for a long time. Not sure how to register it.

    Hi Judy,

    I’m guessing your Office needs activation, sign in with  the Microsoft account you used to purchase, check your subscription at Microsoft services, then reactivate word by clicking file, Account, and Activate Product
