My personal azure account is linked to my university

Hi,

My account is somehow linked to my university, even though it's not my university domain account.

When I tried to create my azure account, it took me to the university SSO and when I tried signing in, it said "Your account has been locked. Contact your support person to unlock it, then try again.". My best guess is that it is because during a hackathon at school, we were given Azure credits and I signed up using my personal gmail?

Can you please help me?

Thank you!

    Hey there, Jeff Allo

You can reach out to your university and ask them to remove your account from Azure. They would be able to do this through the Microsoft Entra ID service through the Azure portal.

If you are unable to do this, you can create a new tenant using a personal Microsoft account by signing into another Microsoft account through the Azure portal here: https://azure.microsoft.com

Then click onto 'Get started with Azure'

    User's image

This should take you through the process of signing up for Azure. Once you have signed up, please add your other account through the Entra ID portal here: https://portal.azure.com/#blade/Microsoft_AAD_IAM/ActiveDirectoryMenuBlade

You will want to click onto Users and add user. You can complete the user creation form. You will then be able to click onto the user and add permissions to the user.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
