We made a chatbot in Azure AI Foundry, and we were able to upload the bot as an app in MS Teams, but we were wondering if it's possible to make that chatbot a user that can be access through MS Teams chat.

    Hello Sabastian Kwantreng,

To answer your question: It is not possible to make an AI chatbot appear as a traditional user in Microsoft Teams (like a real person with a profile), but you can make the bot accessible through Teams chat by registering it as a Teams app or bot.

Here's a summary of how it works:

When you create a chatbot in Azure AI Foundry (or Power Virtual Agents), you can publish and upload it to MS Teams as an app. This process lets users find and interact with the bot within their Teams environment.

In Teams, bots cannot be made into full-fledged user accounts. Instead, they are recognized as bot identities. Users can chat with these bots directly in personal (1:1) or group conversations, and bots can respond, but bots do not have a profile like human users.

For more integrated experiences (such as showing up in the user search, or being assigned to a team with rights like an individual), you would need to leverage the Microsoft Bot Framework and connect the bot to Teams through the Bot Service, following Teams bot publishing best practices.

Here are useful Microsoft Docs links for next steps:

Publishing your bot in Teams: [Power Virtual Agents bot in Teams](https://free.blessedness.top/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/bots/how-to/add-power-virtual-agents-bot-to-teams)

Connect your bot to Teams: [Bot Framework bot to Teams](https://free.blessedness.top/en-us/azure/bot-service/channel-connect-teams)

You can make your Azure AI Foundry bot accessible to users in Teams via Teams chat by uploading it as a Teams app/bot, but you cannot convert it into a traditional Teams user account. The bot will retain its identity as a bot but users can interact with it just like chatting with a colleague. I hope this suggestion answered your question. Kindly approve the answer.

    Best Regards,

    Jerald Felix
