Start Virtual Machine Failed

One of our Azure VM's failed to start. I tried to start and restart but it remained in failed state. The message was that we do not have sufficient capacity for the requested VM size in this region.

Eventually after and 1 hour plus, the VM was able to start.

Was this an issue with our VM or is it a Microsoft general problem?

Thank you

Nick

    Hi Nick Brodt,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

It wasn’t a problem with your VM itself, just a temporary shortage in Azure’s infrastructure. After some time, Azure freed up capacity and the VM started normally.

This happens when demand is high in a specific region or for a specific VM size. If it happens again, you can wait and retry, or switch to another VM size, zone, or region.
