How to fix Unable to confirm your University ID for Azure for Students using university email

I am a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry (HCMUAF) in Vietnam. My student email address is [your_email]@st.hcmuaf.edu.vn.

When I try to sign up for Azure for Students, I receive the following message:

“Unable to confirm your University ID.”

However, I have already successfully verified my student status through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, using the same student email address.

It seems that my university’s domain (st.hcmuaf.edu.vn) might not yet be recognized by Azure’s student verification system.

Could you please help me manually verify my student status or add my university domain to the eligible list for Azure for Students?

    Hey there, Lê Trí Đức

It seems that my university’s domain (st.hcmuaf.edu.vn) might not yet be recognized by Azure’s student verification system.

Please can you speak to your IT department at your university and ask them if they are registered the domain on Microsoft and use Microsoft 365. If not, they would need to sign up here: https://www.microsoft.com/education/products/office

Once your university has signed up, they would need to verify they are a school/university. Once this has been completed, they would need to set up their tenant on Azure and add the domain they use. Once this has been done, it will allow you to verify your student status and get student benefits.

I have already successfully verified my student status through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, using the same student email address.

GitHub use a different verification method compared to the Azure Students subscription. GitHub gets you to upload documents to support your academic status. Whereas Azure doesn't do this and relays on their form to verify student status.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
