Microsoft, please assist to activate my outlook for macos desktop.

I purchased the basic Microsoft 365 subscription but I cannot activate outlook for macos. It is already installed. It is a frustrating process being sent in circles just to activate software already installed.

Stefan Blom 317.3K Reputation points MVP Volunteer Moderator2025-10-24T09:37:36.37+00:00 If you have a Microsoft 365 Basic subscription, note that it doesn't include the Office apps for macOS or Windows.
With Basic, additional OneDrive space is included, as well as web and mobile access to the apps.

So you are using a free version of Outlook? I don't know why it is asking for activation.

2025-10-24T16:40:45.25+00:00 For clarity, I was previously using Microsoft Office 365 Personal which expired if I recall correctly. I then renewed with Microsoft 365 Basic because I only require Outlook for my emails which is free (with adds) on the mac or without adds if you subscribe. When I renewed there is no download for Outlook only. I am hoping that you can urgently activate Outlook since I am unable to send and receive important emails. I also do not want to or need to reinstall Outlook (it was/is working fine) to avoid wasting time with configuration. I hope this makes it clear.

You may have to reinstall the free Outlook, presumably from the Apple App Store.

Thanks for the info. I am running out of ideas. If you can't run Outlook, maybe could you use the built-in macOS Mail app instead.

2025-10-25T00:00:30.23+00:00 I specifically chose Outlook so that I am able to migrate to Windows OS. The email trails are evidence for court. I am sure you can make available a link to download free Outlook for MacOS High Sierra or find a solution to activate Outlook ONLY on Office 365. I am unfortunately unable to purchase the latest versions of software or hardware since I suffer from disabilities brought on by illness and I can therefore not work and earn an income.
