Adding .ics file to a Google Calendar via new Outlook doesn't sync

Noticed in the new Outlook for MacOS, which is connected to my Google mail and calendar (via IMAP, at least for email, I don't know how Outlook syncs to Google Calendar), adding an event by opening an .ics file does not make the event appear on my Google Calendar when I check it via web browser. It seems the event exists only in my local Outlook even though it says it is on the Google account's calendar in Outlook. Even if I click Sync, it does not get synchronized. If I switch back to the legacy Outlook and open the .ics file to add to the same calendar, it does immediately appear in Google Calendar on the web.

Is this a known issue?

    Hi, thanks for reaching out.

Can you please check if your Google account is added in Outlook as a Google account, not just via IMAP.

In the new Outlook, importing an .ics file only adds the event to your local Outlook calendar and does not sync to Google Calendar on the web.

Also, I suggest creating events directly in Outlook on the Google calendar instead of importing .ics files. This way, your events will appear correctly in Google Calendar.
