Hi ,
Do you buy the product key separately or does it come with the computer?
Thanks

Coming from a Windows 10 Home, I changed my motherboard to be able to install Windows 11 Home and activate it successfully. Recently I updated my MSI bios and now I can't activate my Windows 11 Home, even by using the product key I had on my windows 11 Home,
Any advice ?
Thank you.

It came with the previous motherboard computer and it was activated on the new motherboard
successfully, until I updated the BIOS
Thanks Yvan, let me know if you need more infos.
Hi ,
I'm asking if you purchased the license separately because if your license came with the computer, it's very likely an OEM license. This type of license is tied to the computer's motherboard. If you replace it with a different one, unfortunately, you'll lose the license and have to buy a new one.
If you purchased the license separately (Retail) and tried hardware activation, but it didn't work, you'll need to contact Microsoft support to verify the activation.

Hi Yvan, I understand the "tied to the computer" principle. But the "I changed hardware on this device recently" worked on my "new" computer because its linked to my microsoft account. So the product KEY was successfully transfered to my new computer . For some reason it stopped working after the BIOS update
Thanks
