Hi Michael Montana,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum! I understand how frustrating it can be to have unexpected pink boxes that make the game unplayable. The pink boxes usually appear when the game can’t load certain textures or effects.
Here are my suggested steps that you can try to resolve the issue:
1 - Update your graphics driver
- Download and install the latest driver from your GPU manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel). A clean reinstall often works best.
2 - Install DirectX End-User Runtime (June 2010)
- Go to Microsoft’s official download page: DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
- Click “Download” and save the file (dxwebsetup.exe).
- Run the installer then follow the prompts to complete installation.
- Restart your PC after installation.
This will add the missing DirectX 9.0c components that many older games need, without changing your current DirectX 12/11 setup.
I look forward to receiving your update. Let me know which solution works for you or if your problem persists and you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment". Thanks for your effort.
