My Windows PC is not playing any sound without external headsets. I have been using headsets (USB) and after that the computer will not play any sound without headsets. I have to use these headsets or connect it to a Bluetooth speaker. How do I fix it so that I can use the computer speakers when I don't have the headsets?

Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been offline.

    Thanks for the screenshot.

Your system appears to be missing the audio driver required for your speakers to work. However, downloading and installing the driver isn't hard. See below.

Go to the support area of the HP website by clicking the link below to download the driver.

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-probook-440-14-inch-g9-notebook-pc/model/2101000462?sku=6Q7Z7ES

Driver name: Realtek HD Audio Driver

    Version: 22.9844.2108.87 Rev.N

(You will need to expand the "Driver-Audio" category to find the driver I am referring to.)

After downloading the driver installation file, double-click to run it and follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

Then restart your PC and see if the speakers work.

If the problem persists, please let me know.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

When you disconnect the USB headset, does an X appear in the speaker icon next to the clock?

Also, share a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

    I await your reply.
