When you buy a game like Battlefield Phantom Edition using an EA Play subscription discount, you own the base game permanently. However, certain features especially multiplayer access or premium content may still depend on an active EA Play subscription if they were part of the subscription benefits. Once your EA Play membership expires, those perks are removed, even though you still have the game itself. EA Play often includes exclusive multiplayer perks, premium editions, or early access tied to the subscription.
When the subscription ends, those benefits are revoked, leaving only the standard game features.
If the edition you purchased was linked to EA Play perks, multiplayer may require either renewing EA Play or buying a standalone upgrade.
What You Can Do:
Check Your Game License
On Xbox, go to My Games & Apps > Battlefield 6 > Manage Game and confirm what content is installed.
Verify EA Play Status
If multiplayer was part of EA Play perks, you’ll need to renew EA Play or purchase the multiplayer upgrade separately.
