I purchased a Microsoft 365 subscription from Amazon for a year.

I need help making sure that it is downloaded correctly, and I am having issues opening my files. They are greyed out, and some have red (x). Also, some have clouds,

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Vickie Riley,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble accessing your files. Based on your description, it sounds like there may be a syncing issue with OneDrive, which is commonly used to store and manage files in Microsoft 365.

Here are a few steps you can take to get things back on track:

First, make sure Microsoft 365 is properly installed and activated:

    • Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services using the account linked to your Amazon purchase.
    • Confirm that your subscription is active.
    • If needed, you can download and install Office from that page.

Second, the file icons you mentioned suggest that OneDrive may not be syncing correctly:

    • Click the OneDrive cloud icon in your system tray (bottom-right corner).
    • Make sure it’s running and not paused.
    • If you see red (x) icons, right-click the affected files and select “View sync problems” to troubleshoot.
    • For greyed-out files or cloud icons, ensure you’re connected to the internet and that OneDrive is set to keep files available offline.

You can also visit the OneDrive support page for more help: OneDrive Troubleshooting Guide

Let me know in case you need further assistance.
