Why are Spark Pools 3.4 in Synapse Taking Twice as Long to Start Up?

Since 3.5 Preview all pools are taking longer to spin up. This is also happening with custom environments in Fabric.

Is this issue being worked on actively?

Yes the issue is actively recognised and being tracked; but I don’t see a published fix date yet. The official “Known issues” page lists an active issue: “Starting a Spark session (with custom python libraries) is taking longer than usual.” under the Apache Spark pool component.

To know the ETA its better to raise a support ticket with MS
