Unable to download apps to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Getting these messages:

    The "Incompatible Program" error is occurring because you are running Windows Server 2012 R2, which is a server operating system, not a standard desktop OS like Windows 10 or 11. For security and stability, servers do not include many common desktop applications or the graphical libraries they need to run by default.

    This is the root cause for both of your issues. The Solution: Install "Desktop Experience"

    For the Snipping Tool, please do not use a third-party installer. The genuine tool is already part of Windows but must be enabled on a server.

    Both the Snipping Tool and the required libraries for your WeatherLink app are included in a feature called "Desktop Experience." You can install this directly from your server's dashboard.

    1. Open Server Manager (it's usually on the taskbar).
    2. Go to Manage > Add Roles and Features.
    3. Click "Next" until you get to the Features list.
    4. Scroll down and find the "Desktop Experience" feature (it's under the "User Interfaces and Infrastructure" group).
    5. Check that box, click "Next," and then "Install."
    6. You will need to restart your server after the installation is complete.

    After the restart, you will find the Snipping Tool in your Start menu, and your WeatherLink app installer should now run correctly.
