I did NOT "Download" the language files when I turned voice access on for the first time. NOW what should I do to get it to work?

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

    If you turned on Voice Access in Windows 11 but skipped downloading the language files, the feature won’t work until those files are installed.

    I'll provide you with steps to follow:

    From Windows Settings

    • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    • Go to Accessibility → Speech.
    • Under Voice Access, turn the toggle Off, then On again.
    • When prompted with “Download the speech model for English (United States)” (or your language), click Download.
      • Wait for the download to complete and once done, you’ll see a microphone icon appear on your screen.

    You can test again if it's working.
