Once connected you don't get the logon prompt and have to pick the basic connect option and I want to fix that.

    Hi Odthomas,

If VMConnect only shows Basic session, first kindly enable Enhanced session mode policy and Use enhanced session mode on the host (Hyper-V Settings).

In the guest, make sure it’s Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise/Education, create a local user with a non-blank password, and verify the Remote Desktop Services (TermService) and RDS UserMode Port Redirector (UmRdpService) services are running.

Then, allow the Remote Desktop (TCP-In) firewall rule and, if needed, turn on Remote Desktop and reboot. Reconnect and choose View > Enhanced session (or just reconnect and it should appear). If it still doesn’t show, update Windows inside the VM, use a Generation 2 VM, and confirm Integration Services > Guest services is enabled.

    Hope this helps.
    Finn.
