Can I delete McAfee

Bought new HP windows 11 pc. It came loaded with McAfee, I would like to delete McAfee and only use Microsoft Defender protection, can I do this?

And if I can, will I need to make any changes to my security setup like firewall, etc.

    Yes. You can delete McAfee. I just have one suggestion. Instead of performing the usual uninstallation, I suggest using the uninstallation tool provided by the developer.

    This is because third-party antivirus programs can sometimes retain remnants after the usual uninstallation, and these remnants can impact the use of other security tools like Defender.

    It is not necessary to install a third-party antivirus on Windows. Windows Security already provides the protection you need, in addition to other features.

    It is also not necessary to take any action in Windows Defender, as the default settings are already excellent for maintaining your security. If the system has any recommendations for your security, Windows Security will let you know. Monitor the shield icon in the system tray, which is located next to the clock.
