Global Administrator unable to create Azure support requests – need subscription ownership or Support Request Contributor role reassigned

Hello Microsoft team,

I’m the Global Administrator for our organization’s Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) tenant citynorthbaptist.com.

I’m trying to create an Azure support request but receive the following message:

“You don’t have permission to create a support request. To get permission, ask your subscription administrator or owner to assign you the ‘Support Request Contributor’ role for the selected subscription.”

After investigation, I’ve confirmed the following:

I am listed as a Global Administrator in Entra ID (confirmed via the Entra portal).

However, I am not listed as an Owner or Support Request Contributor on the Azure subscription.

The previous subscription owner has left the organization, and no other users currently have those roles.

This leaves me unable to create a support ticket through the portal or request Microsoft’s help via standard channels (since they require an existing support plan or ticket).

Could Microsoft please advise on the correct escalation path to:

Reassign Owner or Support Request Contributor permissions to my Global Admin account, or

Transfer ownership of the Azure subscription to my account so I can manage billing and support access going forward.

I have all relevant details ready for verification (tenant domain, tenant ID, subscription ID, and proof of Global Administrator status).
