Is there some way to stop the EPEKA product key from activating other devices in the future?

Background: Only 35 units used ePKEA and others have shift to PKEA.

Custom windows image did not inject EPKEA product key. 35 units were activated manually already.

Concern:

If recreate master image with product key injected, how to avoid end user using the RUSB or image to install at other devices?

Question:

1)Is there some way to stop the EPEKA product key from activating other devices in the future? because others have shift to PKEA.

2)Is there a way to reset EPKEA product key after reactive the device?

3)how and when to use slmgr.vbs /cpky on master images to clear keys before duplication?

    Dear Chen, Joanne,

    To address your questions:

Preventing ePKEA Key Activation on Other Devices ePKEA keys are designed for one-time activation and are hardware-bound. However, if the key is embedded in a master image or RUSB, it could unintentionally activate on other devices. To avoid this, we recommend not injecting the ePKEA key into the image. Instead, activate manually per device or use a deployment method that doesn’t expose the key (e.g., using provisioning packages or scripts with secure key handling).

Resetting ePKEA Product Key After Reactivation Once an ePKEA key is activated on a device, it cannot be reused or reassigned. If the device is reimaged, it should retain its activation status as long as the hardware ID remains unchanged. There’s no supported method to “reset” the key for reuse—it’s tied to the original device.

Using slmgr.vbs /cpky in Master Images The /cpky command removes the product key from the registry to prevent it from being captured during imaging. We recommend running this command after activation and before capturing the master image, especially if the image will be deployed to multiple devices. This helps ensure the key isn’t inadvertently reused.

Please let me know if any of these steps help resolve the issue. If you find this answer helpful, feel free to hit "Accept Answer" so others can benefit too 😊. T&B, Domic
