When I turn on my computer, the some of the icons in the taskbar below are generic so I don't know what program they represent unless I hover over it.

    Hello,

The issue you're experiencing—where taskbar icons appear as generic placeholders until hovered over—may be related to a temporary delay in Windows loading application resources or a corrupted icon cache.

To resolve this, we recommend the following steps:

Restart Windows Explorer by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc, locating Windows Explorer in Task Manager, right-clicking it, and selecting Restart.

Rebuild the icon cache by running the following command in Command Prompt (as administrator): ie4uinit.exe -show

Ensure your system is fully updated via Settings > Windows Update.

If the issue persists, consider performing a clean boot to rule out third-party software conflicts.

If my answer is useful for you, please vote for it.

    Best regards,

    Quinnie Quoc.
