My personal email is not receiving order confirmations while still getting advertising from same company

In the past two months I have begun to have problems receiving emails that are in response to orders placed with a couple different companies. I get ALL of their promotional and advertising emails DAILY but am not getting confirmation emails when I place an order. I have confirmed that they are in the list of acceptable companies to receive emails from and have also reached out to each company to alert them to this problem and to try to ensure that future emails regarding important issues actually are received.

Still, nothing fixes this. I searched online and learned about a potential 'quarantine' list that may be the issue but when I try to check that, it is only allowed for business emails not a personal email like I have. Does anyone have any way I can go to a quarantine site or whatever and enter my personal email and a company name that I want to be able to get order confirmation emails from to fix this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hello Sandra Kent,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A Forum! I understand how frustrating it is to receive promotional emails but miss important order confirmations emails from the same company. Here are the following steps that you can try:

    1. Check junk and blocked list again

    • Sign in to Outlook on the web > Settings > Mail > Junk email
    • Make sure the company domains are not in Blocked senders and domains.
    • Add them to Safe senders and domains.

    2. Review inbox rules and settings

Still under Settings > Mail >:

    • Rules: confirm there are no rules moving or deleting messages.
    • Forwarding: must be Off and empty.
    • Sweep: remove any auto-move/delete actions
    • Sync email > POP and IMAP: Set POP = Off (a POP client can remove mail from the server).

    3. Check where mail may have been moved

    • Open Deleted Items folder to restore anything that auto-removed.
    • At top of Deleted Items, select Recover items deleted from this folder (recoverable for ~30 days) and restore what you need (if any).
    • Check the Archive and Other tabs as well.

    4. Ask the sender to verify

    • Tell them confirmations aren’t arriving to your Outlook.com address and ask if their system uses a different domain for transactional emails (order confirmations often come from a separate address).
    • Request they whitelist Outlook.com addresses on their side.

I hope this helps and please feel free to let me know how it goes. Take care.
