    Hello Theekshana(ume),

Thanks for posting your question in Microsoft Q&A portal

The error occurs because your Azure for Students subscription has an Azure Policy that restricts resource deployment to a limited set of allowed regions. When you try to create a resource (like a azure function) in a region outside this approved list, the policy blocks the deployment.

Azure for Students typically allows deployment only in about five specific regions, which can vary for each user. To resolve this, you need to verify which regions are permitted for your student subscription and deploy your resources only within those allowed regions.

To check which regions are allowed for your subscription in the Azure portal:

    1. Go to Subscriptions → select your subscription → open Policies → then Assignments.
    2. Look for a policy named Allowed locations (or sometimes Allowed locations for resource groups).
    3. Open that policy, go to Parameters, and review the listOfAllowedLocations to see which regions are permitted for your subscription.

If you require access to the region, follow the official process: Go to Help + support - Microsoft Azure Portal → Help + support → Create a support request → Service and subscription limits (quotas) → Region access, and request to have the region enabled for your Azure for Students subscription.

You’ll need a manual unlock through Azure Support. Use the following short description when creating your support request:

Azure for Students subscription all regions blocked for Function App deployment (RequestDisallowedByAzure). Please enable at least one region for Microsoft.Web to allow Azure Function creation for academic research.
