Public IP migration from Basic to Standard doesn't work...

I need to migrate a public IP address from a Basic SKU to a Standard SKU. However, the upgrade option is unavailable because the IP is currently set to Dynamic. I cannot change it to Static since the option is greyed out, as the IP is associated with a VPN gateway. What steps should I take to proceed?

    Hi Andrew Norman

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum

    1. Dissociate the IP: You'll need to disassociate the public IP from the VPN gateway. This is essential because the dynamic IP settings tied to a gateway resource, can restrict changes.
    2. Change IP to Static: Once the IP is dissociated, you can change it from Dynamic to Static.
    3. Upgrade to Standard SKU: After setting the IP to Static, you should have the upgrade option available to transition it from Basic to Standard.
    4. Reassociate the IP: Finally, you can reassociate the newly upgraded Static public IP back to your VPN gateway.

    Hi Andrew,

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A, you can't directly. Azure blocks this because Standard SKU requires static allocation, and VPN gateways lock the IP config. Here's what you can do:
