Why SKU family is showing Generation_1 when SKU tier is Waf_v2?

Hi,

upon reviewing our Application Gateways I saw the following in the ARM template exported from the portal:

"sku": {

                "name": "WAF_v2",

                "tier": "WAF_v2",

                "family": "Generation_1"

            }

I thought that the WAF_v2 SKU is part of the Generation 2 family of SKUs since it has the improved performance etc. But it clearly says we have family generation 1. Also, I saw that autoscaling and zone redundancy are part of Generation_2 but they are available in my app gateway.

So my app gateway is in Generation_1 or Generation_2? Please provide an explanation.

    Hello Ritu Goswami

    The "family": "Generation_2" tag is used to identify the underline SKU family associated with the Application Gateway V2. As we transition to the next generation SKU family, this tag helps differentiate Application Gateways that are part of the updated infrastructure. We are currently migrating existing Generation_1 gateways to Generation_2 as part of this upgrade initiative. Please note that this setting is not configurable at this time.
