My Microsoft word app on my iPad has started to freeze in the last few hours. It freezes about ten seconds after startup and then doesn’t respond. I have since troubleshot this by updating the app, reinstalling it, updated my iOS, restarted my iPad, and contacted Apple support. They informed me that I need to contact the app developer (Microsoft). I need the app for my work so a speedy fix would be appreciated.

I have sent a question to the Microsoft team trying to find out if this is a known issue. I will post back with any information I receive.

There is a simple workaround someone else came up with: go to Settings-Apps-Word and turn off access to Siri, Search, and Notifications if you don’t absolutely need them. I have had no issues since I did that yesterday.

I tried the suggested option of toggling off WiFi when the app freezes and bizarrely it seems to work:

    1. open spreadsheet or word doc - it semi loads but freezes
    2. turn WiFi off… doc is now editable, all seems ok
    3. when finished, turn WiFi back on and it will save

Not really a ‘fix’ but at least a workaround which may also help MS figure out what is causing the problem (I hope)…

Hi Elliott, I’ve been struggling for the week with this issue and unable to use excel or word (and we pay for it) nobody was able to help me. But I think i just fixed it. I logged out of all the devices and browser and logged back in of my Microsoft account and it seems that this works for now. I hope it helps you.

Same issue for me too! Word, Excel and Power Point always freeze.

M365 Copilot works, but, as you all know, there you can work with only one file at a time.

    Support, please, help us!
