As outlined below, we have purchased SQL Server licenses for both the production and development environments.

  • Invoice Number: 48<removed PII>
  • Contract Number: 41<removed PII>
  • Purchasing Account Name: National Fede<removed PII>
  • Purchasing Account Number: 00<removed PII>

Production Environment

  • SI Part Number: TP5-57T141178
  • Details: MPSA-D SQL Server Std Core 2 LSA JA (31 months)

Development Environment (already obtained)

  • SI Part Number: TP5-57T141061
  • Details: MPSA-D SQL Server Std Core 2 LSA JA (33 months)

I am unsure of the license key for the production environment (①). Is it the same as the license key for the development environment (②)? If they are not the same, how can I confirm the license key for the production environment (①)?

You have two licenses, both for Standard Edition and both are for two cores.

So if you are license-audited, the auditor only finds two machines with SQL Server Standard and these machines both only have two cores, you are fine. If there are more than two machines, or more than two cores in any of the machines, you may be in trouble.

The license as such is only paper. Keep track of that paper.

    Hi @Shotaro Matsuzaki,

Thank you @Erland Sommarskog for the clarification that helps confirm both licenses cover SQL Server Standard Edition.

However, since the concern is about identifying the specific license key for the production environment, this information isn’t included in the invoice or contract details. Microsoft typically does not provide separate product keys directly in the MPSA portal or invoice.

To confirm or retrieve the correct license key for the production environment (SI Part Number: TP5-57T141178), pleas.

    1. Log in to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center (VLSC) or the Microsoft Business Center (MPSA) using your purchasing account.
    2. Go to Licenses → Relationship Summary → Product Keys.
    3. There you can view or download the key specific to each purchased product.

If you still haven’t seen it or the portal doesn’t display separate keys for each environment, I recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft Volume Licensing Support they can verify and provide the correct key.

    Thanks,
    Akhil.
