I need to purchase ESU licenses for domain-joined Windows 10 Pro computers. I was told I need to do that through Volume Licensing. How do I get a Volume Licensing account? We have a Microsoft 365 account, but not VL.

    Hello,

While your Microsoft 365 account is managed through the Microsoft 365 admin center, a Volume Licensing (VL) agreement is a separate contract for purchasing software licenses in bulk. The standard way to set up a new VL agreement is by working with an authorized Microsoft Partner, who will facilitate the entire process for you.

Here is a step-by-step guide to get you started:

How to Get a Volume Licensing Account and Purchase ESU Licenses

1.Find a Microsoft Partner: The first and most important step is to connect with a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) or a Licensing Solution Partner (LSP). These partners are authorized to sell Volume Licenses and can advise you on the best agreement for your needs.

2.Request a Quote for Windows 10 ESU: Inform the partner of your requirement to purchase Windows 10 Extended Security Update licenses. They will need to know the number of computers you need to cover. The partner will then provide you with a quote and the terms of the licensing agreement.

3.The Partner Creates Your Agreement: Once you agree to the terms, the partner will create a new Volume Licensing agreement for your organization. They handle the paperwork and the transaction with Microsoft on your behalf.

4.Access Your Licenses: After the purchase is complete, your ESU licenses (in the form of a product key) will be made available to you. You will typically access these through the Volume Licensing section of the same Microsoft 365 admin center you already use. You'll sign in with your existing business account credentials to retrieve the necessary keys for deployment.

In short, the process doesn't involve creating an account yourself from a web portal, but rather engaging a partner who sets up the licensing agreement for you. Your existing Microsoft 365 account will then be the gateway to managing these new licenses.

I hope this provides a clear path forward. If you find this answer helpful, please feel free to hit "Accept Answer" to help other community members with the same question! 😊
