Have multiple and interconnected Boards in one Channel in Teams

Hello,

I would like to create a team where I can have more than one Boards inside. Each board will be for a different team in my department, and there will be an "Overview" board, where some selected actions from the other boards, will be displayed there.

For example in Board 1, a new action is created and gets a tag called 'Machine issue'. In Board 3 a new action is also created and gets a tag called 'Employees'. More actions are created and some receive tags and some not.

In the 'Overview' board, I would have different sections, one of them would be called 'Machine issue', the other 'Employees' and so on. Under these sections, I would like the actions from the other boards to appear.

I know it might be a bit niche request, but if there is another suggestion for the same request that can happen with Teams, or another Microsoft tool (not too complicated, and easily accessible by most employees), please let me know.

Thank you!

    Hello @Dionysia M

    Welcome to Q&A forum!

I understand this is an important need for your work.

After reviewing your request, I’d like to suggest two options that you can consider. You can explore both to see which one best fits your team’s structure and workflow. If you’re still not satisfied or need further clarification, feel free to reach out, I’ll be happy to look into it more for you if possible.

    Option 1: Microsoft Planner

You can use Microsoft Planner in the following way. While it may not fully meet your original request, it allows tagged tasks to appear directly in your Teams channel, making it easier for everyone to access and follow updates.

Here’s how to set it up:

    1. Go to the Team and Channel where you want to add the board (e.g., Team 1, Channel Group 1).
    2. Click on “Add a tab” at the top of the channel.
    3. Select the Planner app.
    4. Click “Save”.
    5. You can either create a new plan or add an existing one if you’ve already set it up.

Once you’ve created three plans (e.g., Employee, Finance, Machine Issue), you’ll see these tabs appear in the channel’s toolbar. This makes it easy for all users to access and track tasks by category.

Option 2: Create a Sharepoint site

Safely Collaborate and Share Content | Microsoft SharePoint

    1. Create a SharePoint site for your department or team.
    2. Inside the site, create multiple Microsoft Lists each list acts as a board for a different team (e.g., HR, Finance, Machine Issues).
    3. Create a dashboard page in the site.
    4. Add List web parts to the page, each filtered by tag to show only relevant tasks.
    5. Add this dashboard page as a tab in Microsoft Teams so everyone can access it easily.

I would provide some Microsoft Article for your reference:

If anything is unclear or if you still need assistance, please don’t hesitate to let me know. I’d be happy to take another look and make sure everything aligns with your situation.

Hope this information will be helpful for you!
