Retirement timeline for Basic VPN Gateways using Basic SKU IPs

Good morning, how are you? I received this email on August 1 with the title attached regarding my basic public IP and basic VPN, but so far I have not yet received the automated tool to remove the Public IP address, and it also has not appeared to migrate the basic VPN to AZ generation. I have some questions: Will my public IP address remain the same after the tool migration? And will the VPN migration also appear? Because I am concerned about the timing, and so far it has not appeared yet. Could you provide me with some guidance?

    Hi,

    Your IP address will stay the same. The current deadline for Basic Public IP when used with VPN Gateway is end of March 2026, so you still have plenty of time. The automated capability for removing Basic SKU public IP from your gateway is supposed to be available end of October 2025.

    NOTE: Your Basic SKU VPN Gateway will not be migrated to AZ generation. Your Basic SKU VPN Gateway will stay on Basic SKU.

    To answer your question:

    Will my public IP address remain the same after the tool migration?

    Yes, your Public IP address will remain same post migration of basic to standard SKU.

    Will the VPN migration also appear?

    Yes, an automated capability to remove the Basic public IP from your gateway will be available End of Oct 2025 - Deprecation timeline of Basic IP for all VPN Gateways is moved to end of Mar 2026
