Hello @Million, Samson,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform. Thank you for reaching out & hope you are doing well.
I understand your question regarding the intermittent connection problem with your Azure Bastion Host. The message “The network connection to the Bastion Host appears unstable” typically points to temporary disruptions between your client and the Bastion service or a possible configuration issue within the connected virtual network.
Here are a few checks we can perform to identify the cause:
1. Verify the network connection:
Make sure your local network has a stable internet connection with low latency.
Check connectivity to the Bastion public endpoint by using one of these methods:
ping <bastion-public-ip>
or
Test-NetConnection <bastion-public-ip> -Port 443
Azure Bastion needs TCP port 443 open for outbound traffic. Confirm your firewall or proxy allows this port.
2. Browser and Session Reliability:
Make sure you're using a supported browser, such as the latest version of Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
Clear your browser cache or try opening Bastion in an InPrivate/Incognito window.
If the issue persists, try connecting from a different device or network to check for any local network problems.
3. Bastion Host Status:
Check in the Azure Portal to confirm that the Bastion resource status is marked as “Succeeded.”
Verify that the AzureBastionSubnet is set up properly and has enough available IP addresses.
4. Session Timeout and Idle Settings:
Bastion sessions may disconnect if they are idle for over 15 minutes or if the browser tab is inactive.
To help prevent session drops, consider using the Azure Bastion Native Client (Preview), which offers more stable connections for longer sessions. Use the Azure Bastion Native Client
5. Verify if there are any regional or service-related issues:
Check the Azure Service Health dashboard to find out if there are any ongoing Bastion service incidents in your region. Azure Status Page
6. Advanced Troubleshooting:
Turn on Bastion Diagnostic Logs for more detailed information: Go to Azure Portal → Bastion → Diagnostic Settings → Send logs to Log Analytics.
If the problem persists, gather these logs and provide them to Azure Support for additional help.
