hi Moenier Davids,
the shutdown works, but the notification email fails silently. This usually points to a problem with the "Send Email" action in your Automation runbook or the underlying email service configuration.
check the job logs for your Automation runbook. In the Azure portal, go to your Automation Account, find the runbook, and look at its "Jobs" history. Click into the most recent failed job and examine the detailed output and error streams. This should give you a specific error message explaining why the email action failed.
most common causes
Outdated or Invalid Credentials: The runbook uses a credential asset to connect to your email service (like Office 365 SMTP). If the password for that account has expired or changed, the authentication will fail. Check and update the credential asset in the Automation Account.
SMTP/Send Grid Configuration: If you're using a third party service like SendGrid, the API key or SMTP settings in your runbook's "Send Email" step might be incorrect or outdated.
Network Restrictions: Your Automation Account might be running in a sandboxed environment that blocks outbound connections to SMTP ports. Check if you need to configure a firewall exception or use a hybrid worker.
Dig into the runbook job logs to find the specific error. Then, verify and update the email credentials or service configuration used by the runbook.

Alex
