Duplicate username across on-prem AD instances

A customer has more than 1 on-prem AD instances each having its own AD provisioning connector. However, while generating the username (thru SelectUniqueValue function), it respects the existing usernames in the same domain but does not check in the other AD instances, resulting in duplicate username across AD further failing to import the user. Has anyone faced this situation and knows a work around to this? Thanks.
