Hi,

This question is with TFS 2015. We are getting permissions error when we try to 'edit' the 'project' admin page. Its any project. When I checked at the 'Collection' level, I am the Collection administrator. So, I should have access.

Can you please help?

Thanks,

Swapna

    Hi Swapna,
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

    1. what the error really means SQL error 7666 is a full-text search issue (often permissions). when TFS 2015 opens the project admin page it hits SQL; if the TFS service account is missing full-text rights, you see TF246021 with 7666.
    2. quick checks on the SQL instance, verify full-text is installed: run SELECT FULLTEXTSERVICEPROPERTY('IsFullTextInstalled'); (expect 1). if it’s 0, add the SQL Server Full-Text Search feature and restart. make sure the TFS service account is a SQL login and db_owner on Tfs_Configuration and all Tfs_Collection* databases (re-apply via TFS Admin Console if unsure). if full-text is present, grant the service account permissions on the full-text objects (catalog/stoplist) in each collection DB (e.g., grant CONTROL on the full-text catalog).
    3. repair if it still fails rebuild or repopulate the collection’s full-text catalog(s), then test the admin page again.
    4. why being collection admin didn’t help collection admin is app-level. the web call runs under the TFS service account against SQL, so missing SQL/full-text rights still block you.

    to unblock

    • ensure full-text feature is installed.
    • ensure the TFS service account has db_owner on all TFS DBs and the needed full-text permissions.
    • rebuild/repopulate the full-text catalogs if they’re stale.

    Hi Swapnesh,

We have tried all the steps above:

    1. You mentioned:
      1. IsFullTextInstalled = 1
      2. Service account is a SQL login and db_owner on Tfs_Configuration and all Tfs_Collection*
      3. You even granted sysadmin
    2. We haven't really made any changes to the 'TFS' service account that was running this 'TFS' instance. But how it started was with an 'SSL' error:

    User's image

We are using TFS2015 update 3. This was using TLS 1.1 and wasn't compatible with the 'SQL' server, all of a sudden, we started getting the errors where we can't access the 'Test' tab and the 'admin' of each project.

So, we installed TLS 1.2 and disabled 1.1. But still that didn't resolve the issue.
