I am having an issue with Windows Search and have already tried every common troubleshooting step, but the problem persists.

I have already attempted the following fixes with no success:

Restarting Windows Explorer via Task Manager.

Running the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Rebuilding the Search Index from Indexing Options in Control Panel.

Checking for and installing all available Windows Updates.

Running the System File Checker (sfc /scannow) in an elevated Windows Terminal.

Running the official Microsoft "Reset Windows Search" PowerShell script to reinstall the search feature.

Despite all these efforts, the issue remains unresolved. I've tried multiple suggestions from Microsoft forums and articles.

(The searchbar is green bcz i changed it with the theme)

    Hi,

Since the usual fixes haven’t resolved the issue, we recommend checking for any third-party software or background services that might be interfering with search indexing. You can also try creating a new local user profile to see if the issue is profile-specific. In some cases, corrupted user settings can block search from functioning properly.

If the problem persists across profiles, we may need to review event logs or run a deeper diagnostic. Let us know if you’d like help with that—we’re here to support you every step of the way.

If my answer is useful for you, please vote for it.

    Best regards,

    Quinnie Quoc.

We're being plagued with this in our org.

It makes the PC almost unusable to a non tech-savvy user.

Come on, MS, this is not an isolated problem. FIX IT!

We have the same issue within our org for two month now. The strange thing is that it's not on all devices, but we are getting more and more people with the issue.

Search for and uninstall KB5066835 in Windows updates and then reboot.
