    Hi @John Llamas
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To assign an application-specific password for Microsoft 365 Outlook on Mac Mail, you need to follow these steps. This is typically required when multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled, and the app does not support modern authentication (OAuth 2.0).

    1.Go to Microsoft Security Info.
-If MFA is enabled, you'll see the section for Apps passwords.
If it's not visible, your admin may have disabled app passwords. You need to contact your IT admin to allow them, or if you're an admin, you may follow this guide Configure app passwords for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID | Micro…

    -Click Add sign-in method.

-Select App password from the list and click Add.

-Give the password a name such as Outlook for Mac and click Next.

-Copy the generated password because you won't be able to see it again later. This is your app-specific password.

You can read more at Create app passwords from the Security info page - Microsoft Support

    2.Configure Outlook for Mac

-If you are using legacy Outlook for Mac or a manual IMAP/POP configuration:

Go to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts > select your account, and in the Password field, paste the app password you generated > Then save and restart Outlook.

-If you are using modern Outlook for Mac, you don’t need an app password, just sign in with your normal credentials and complete MFA in the popup browser.

Note: App passwords rely on Basic Authentication, which Microsoft is retiring for Exchange Online. If your organization enforces Modern Authentication, app passwords will not work, and you’ll need to use the modern Outlook client.

I hope this information is helpful.
